The City of Brandon experienced two incidents this morning involving Brandon Police Department units. The first incident involved a motorcycle officer. The single accident occurred at approximately 8:31 am in the westbound lane of Government St./Hwy 80, near the I-20 over pass. Officer Chase Beamon was transported to University Medical Center via American Medical Response Ambulance. The officer is responsive and is currently being treated.

A Glendale police officer and a child were each taken to a hospital after the car the child was riding in collided with the Glendale officer’s car Tuesday morning, according to Glendale police. The officer was responding to another collision on Tuesday near 51st and Northern avenues when the wreck occurred, said a Glendale police spokeswoman. Glendale officers were in the area directing traffic to avoid a collision that had occurred early Tuesday morning when a Jeep SUV was trying to turn northbound from a private drive on to 51st Avenue at about 7:45 a.m., police said.

A woman suspected of drunken driving was arrested early Monday after authorities said she drove the wrong way on two highways and collided with a California Highway Patrol car. Authorities were notified about 1:35 a.m. that a driver in a Mitsubishi Mirage was heading west in the eastbound lanes of state Route 52. The driver then exited onto Interstate 5 and headed south in the northbound lanes where she sideswiped the patrol car, the CHP said. The driver was stopped and taken into custody and booked into jail on DUI charges, the CHP said. No injuries were reported.

An investigation is underway after a Charlotte police officer was involved in a crash with a motorcycle before crashing head-on into another vehicle. According to police, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was involved in a crash with a motorcycle along the 8400-block of Wilkinson Boulevard around 4:25 p.m. Monday afternoon. The officer then crashed, head-on, into a pickup truck in the area. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. The officer was not injured in the collisions.

A Denver patrol car was hit by another car triggering a 10-car chain-reaction collision on eastbound 6th Avenue near Federal Boulevard early Saturday morning, according to police. The parked patrol car was struck after it responded to an accident that happened around 7 a.m., said Denver police spokesman. The police officer was not in the car at the time and was not harmed. No serious injuries have been reported in any of the accidents. Jackson said that immediately after the officer's patrol car was hit, another car hit the second vehicle and kept on going.

A Los Angeles Police Department officer, later identified as Nicholas Choung Lee, 40, was killed Friday morning in a crash involving a dump truck and a patrol vehicle in Beverly Hills. Fire-rescue personnel responded to the crash at Loma Vista Drive near Doheny Road, near the Greystone Mansion area. A male officer died in the crash, according to the LAPD. A female officer and the truck driver were hospitalized in critical condition. Officers gathered at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, just southeast of the crash site, to wait for updates.

Police say a suspected drunk driver lost control of his mini-van near 11th and West Cumberland Street and crashed into a car going through the intersection. It happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle then careened off that car and then came to a halt when his van smashed into two police cars that were stopped nearby. One 22nd District police officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment of minor non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to be released.

Three people, including an Indiana State Police trooper, were injured when a pickup lost control on a snow-covered I-65 in northwest Indiana Tuesday morning and struck a squad car stopped for another accident. The crash happened about 10 a.m. Monday on I-65 just south of the U.S. 30 exit in Merrillville, a statement from ISP said. Master Trooper Aaron Segrest, 53, was sitting in his unmarked squad car on the side of the northbound lanes when it was hit.

A police chase ended with the suspect’s car and the squad car in Arcade Creek in Sacramento. Sacramento police officers attempted to pull over the car near Marconi Avenue and Connie Drive in Sacramento. That’s when the suspect took off and then crashed into the creek. Both cars have since been removed from the creek bed. No one was seriously injured.

A multiple-car crash on Route 1 in Peabody this afternoon sent a state trooper to the hospital, State Police said. None of the people in the other vehicles were injured, officials said. The four-car collision, which included a State Police cruiser, occurred at about 2 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway, according to a State Police spokesman . The trooper operating the vehicle suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He was taken to North Shore Medical Center’s Salem Hospital, said police. No one in the other vehicles was injured, State Police said.
