A Forest Grove teen pleaded guilty Thursday in connection with the crash that killed two young stepsisters playing in a pile of leaves in October. Mario Echeverria, 18, was sentenced to 13 months in prison for hindering prosecution after the crash, according to the Washington County District Attorney's office. Police said he and 18-year-old Cinthya Garcia Cisneros were driving home Oct. 20 when they hit and killed 11-year-old Abigail Robinson and 6-year-old Anna Dieter-Eckert, who were playing in the leaves near their home.

One adult and one student suffered minor injuries when a station wagon and school bus were involved in a collision Thursday in the west San Fernando Valley. The crash was reported about 7:48 a.m. in the 7000 block of Corbin Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The bus was carrying about a dozen students, and all had exited the vehicle after the wreck, officials said. Three patients were assessed for injury, officials said. A student and an adult attendant were taken to a hospital with very minor injuries, officials said.

A 5-year-old girl died and another woman is in serious condition after a crash early Thursday morning on the Southside. According to reports by the Florida Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Crystle Heidrick was driving a 2008 Chevy Impala northbound on Interstate 295, two miles east of Philips Highway, in the left emergency lane. FHP said around 12:45 a.m., Heidrick entered the center median when the left emergency lane ended, turned to the right and over-corrected.

Seven people were injured in a Vermillion County crash Wednesday. Indiana State Police officials say two cars collided, blocking northbound lanes of State Road 63 in Newport. Seven people, including a 7-year-old child and a 9-month-old infant, were taken to an area hospital. There's no word on their specific injuries. But, police say everyone is expected to be OK.

A child died after being struck by a car Tuesday evening on the city's Southwestside. The incident occurred sometime before 7:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of West Thompson Road, not far from Kentucky Avenue. The child, a 10-year-old girl, was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where she later died. Police said the girl, who was not identified, was walking with another child in the road. A driver then swerved to avoid them, but ended up striking the 10-year-old, police said. The driver was cooperating was officers after the accident. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

A child was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon on the city’s Eastside. The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. at East 32nd Street and North Emerson Avenue. The child was struck by a green Ford Taurus, but did not have life-threatening injuries. The child was transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

Six people, including four children, were hospitalized Monday afternoon after a “high speed rear-end collision” in Battle Ground, police said. A westbound Toyota FJ Cruiser reared-ended a GMC Yukon near Southeast Eaton Boulevard and South Grace Boulevard, according to a spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue. The crash was reported at 3:44 p.m. During the accident, the Cruiser crumpled the Yukon so badly that it reached the back row of seats, where two children were sitting. Nobody, however, was seriously injured in the crash.

Manatee County emergency crews are at the scene of a crash involving two school buses. The buses crashed around 3:30 p.m. at Cortez Road and 40th Street West in Bradenton. 12 students have been transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital and Blake Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the Manatee County Fire Rescue. The buses were transporting students from H.S. Moody Elementary in Bradenton when one bus hit the other bus from behind, according to a Manatee County Schools spokesperson. Seven ambulances responded to the crash.

A 6-year-old boy was killed while trying to cross a busy Fulton County roadway with his brother on Sunday night. The Fulton County Police Department stated that the boy was with his 16-year-old brother while attempting to cross Old National Highway near Jolly Road around 6:50 p.m. Sunday. The boys were standing in the center turn lane when the younger boy ran ahead of his brother, darting into the path of an SUV. The boy, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene.

A grandfather is being held in the Dallas County Jail following a motor vehicle crash that killed his five-year-old grandson. Jail officials said 52-year-old Tony Dickerson was involved in a motor vehicle crash around 9 p.m. at Beltline and Simonds in Seagoville. Police said Dickerson crashed his pick-up truck while driving with his grandson. Dickerson's five-year-old grandson, Josiah Andres Dickerson, was transported to Children's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead Sunday night.
