Jonathan Russell, a senior at Bettendorf High School, was driving westbound on Valley Drive when he missed a turn and his car went into a ditch. The car then struck a utility pole and two trees. Russell had to be extricated from his vehicle and was airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City in critical condition. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, it was reported that Russell had passed away.

Calvondo Smith had parked his car outside of the Three Star Restaurant and was getting out of the vehice when a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by 28-year-old Jerrad Londo slide out of control and collided with Smith's car. Smith was pinned between the two cars at the time of the impact. Smith sustained serious injuries and was taken to to MetroHealth Medical Center where he is now listed in fair condition. Londo declined to be taken to the hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt, did not have a valid driver's license, and was allegedly showing signs of impairment.

Friday night at about 8:20pm, a 39-year-old man called police to report that after a rollover crash near the summit of Indian Canyon, his step-son was pinned under the vehicle. The teen remained pinned until rescuers freed him and he was airlifted to Primary Children's Hospital in stable condition. Neither of the two passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Police said Hatch was not wearing a seat belt. Police said the car, driven by Noe Munoz-Rubio, 23, of Orland was traveling east on Indiana 4 when it left the south side of the road, rolled over and struck a tree before coming to rest on its top. Munoz-Rubio, who was wearing his seat belt, was trapped and had to be extricated from the car by Ashley firefighters, police said. He was flown to Parkview Regional Meidcann Center in Fort Wayne with head, neck and facial injuries. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
