Authorities say a former Rochester police officer injured on the job as a rookie 13 years ago has died in a two-car collision while being rushed to a hospital.

Police in the suburban town of Greece tell local media that 43-year-old Felicia Gilchrist had a medical emergency late Tuesday night and was being driven to the hospital by her father when his car collided with another at an intersection.

She was later pronounced dead at Unity Hospital in Greece.

New York state police say a man has died after crashing his boat on Lake George.

Troopers said Saturday that John Michaels of Bolton Landing was driving the 21-foot Steiger when it hit rocks and trees along the shoreline.

The wreck happened at about 10 p.m. Friday.

Police say the 57-year-old suffered massive trauma. He was the only person on the boat.

Troopers say Michaels was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

State police say they're investigating the death of a 24-year-old man who was hit by a train in a rural western New York town.

Troopers say the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the town of Burns, located in northeastern Allegany County 50 miles south of Rochester.

Police have identified the victim as Aaron Tucker of Swain, near the accident scene.

Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner. His body was sent to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office in Rochester for an autopsy.

No other details have been released.

A Duke Center, Pa., man died in WCA Hospital in Jamestown after his boat capsized on Chautauqua Lake near Bemus Point a day earlier.

Robert W. Knell Sr., 69, of Duke Center, who died Saturday, was fishing on Friday afternoon with his friend when their 14-foot boat capsized because of weather conditions.

An officer with the Jamestown-based New York State Police said the boat that Knell and Roy Barclay, 65, of Derrick City, Pa., were in, capsized due to high winds and heavy rain.

9-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., girl leaving church on Sunday was killed in a three-car crash, The Daily News reports.

Fourth-grader Rebecca Ramnarine died at Brookdale University Hospital shortly after the late-afternoon accident, the news site notes. The driver who caused the crash is also the suspect in a hit-and-run collision that occurred before the accident that killed Rebecca.

Police on Long Island say a motorcyclist was killed and his wife was seriously injured when his speeding motorcycle hit a guardrail.
The accident happened shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday in Holbrook.
Suffolk County police say 36-year-old James Burvenich was driving a 2004 Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he lost control on a curve and hit a guardrail. Burvenich was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital. His 33-year-old wife, LeeAnn, who was a passenger, is in serious condition at the hospital. Both husband and wife were wearing helmets.

New York State Police say a mother and her 30-year-old son have been killed after the car they were driving went off the shoulder of a road, got airborne and slammed into a tree. Troopers say in a statement Friday that Mervyn Albert of Schenectady was driving a 2005 Mazda too fast in the town of Saratoga when he lost control, ran off north shoulder and hit the tree. Troopers say the accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. They say 56-year-old mom Angeli Persaud was in the passenger seat. The two family members were pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.

A 45-year-old "subway surfer" was killed Wednesday night after he hit his head on a piece of subway infrastructure, according to a report from DNA info New York. The man, who was not identified by authorities, was riding atop a northbound 6 train in the Bronx when he struck the object around 10:15 p.m., a NYPD spokesman told the website. Officials stated that he suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. "Subway surfing is simply one of the dumbest things you can do," a MTA spokesman stated. "Don't do it."

A Forestville man was charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle collision Saturday in the Town of Villenova. Stephen Woolley, 58, of South Dayton-Silver Creek Road, was arrested after the 1:45 p.m. crash, in which no injuries were reported. He was charged with the felony because of a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years. Chautauqua County deputies said they added an aggravated DWI charge because Woolley’s blood alcohol reading exceeded 0.18 percent. He also was cited for failure to keep right.

Nassau County police say an 81-year-old woman has died after being thrown from her car in a crash. The accident happened at 4 p.m. Friday in Hicksville. Police say the woman was driving a Toyota when it accelerated and hit a Ford Focus. The Toyota was redirected into the path of a tractor-trailer. The impact of the collision caused the woman to be ejected from her car. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The woman's identity is being withheld pending family notification. No criminal charges were filed and no other injuries were reported.
