The man, who was not identified by authorities, was riding atop a northbound 6 train in the Bronx when he struck the object around 10:15 p.m., a NYPD spokesman told the website.
Officials stated that he suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Subway surfing is simply one of the dumbest things you can do," a MTA spokesman stated. "Don't do it."
