Jake Hansen was riding his motorcycle north on State Road 47 and attempted to pass several vehicles. He was struck by a Jeep turning left onto Southwest Sunview Street and thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to a local medical center where he later died. The driver of the Jeep, Rafael Comesana, 51, was not injured.

One person was killed in a crash Monday morning in Vero Beach, according to local police.

Officials said the wreck occurred just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 60 & 82nd Avenue.

At 6:30 a.m., only one lane was open in the area.

The name of the victim has not been released.

A motorcyclist was killed early Monday in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 in Orlando, prompting officials to close the roadway.

All eastbound lanes of I-4 were closed from Kirkman Road to the Florida Turnpike because of the wreck, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. The interstate reopened about five hours later.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. At least one other person was injured in the three-vehicle crash.

The cause of the crash is not known, and Orlando police continue to investigate.

A Jefferson County man has been arrested on a charge of manslaughter in the death of his 6-year-old daughter, who was run over by a truck Monday afternoon in his yard.

David Russell Courson, 38, was a passenger in the truck, which was driven by a 13-year-old girl, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators say alcohol and drugs were involved and that Courson was the only adult present when his daughter, Rebecca Courson, was killed.

Police are investigating a deadly head-on crash in Southwest Miami-Dade that killed three people and sent two others to the hospital early Sunday. The violent wreck happened around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Krome Avenue and Southwest 144th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. "The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught on fire," a FHP spokesman said. The FHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Osvaldo Andarcio-Valdes didn’t stop when he allegedly caused a crash with injuries on Sunday afternoon in West Palm Beach, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The Palm Springs man also didn’t stop when he allegedly caused a second crash a few blocks away.

Andarcio-Valdes wasn’t done yet. While being questioned regarding the crashes, the 37-year-old man allegedly offered deputies $1,090 to “make this go way,” according to the affidavit.

A 20-year-old West Palm Beach man is facing criminal charges after police say he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a parked car, injuring his child who was in the front unrestrained. Amonzo Shelton was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday and released under supervision Monday, jail records show. He faces charges of driving with a suspended license, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury, and child neglect. Riviera Beach police were called around 12:15 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of West First Street in response to a traffic crash.

A 32-year-old St. Augustine man was killed in a crash in Putnam County early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Around 5:25 a.m. Sunday morning, troopers say Scott Stinson was driving south in the outside lane of State Road 207. A log truck had completed a right turn from Stone Road onto SR-207 before the crash occurred. Stinson was reported as traveling south at a high rate of speed when the front of his pickup truck struck the trailer of the log truck.

Pembroke Pines Police are investigating a single-car crash that left one man dead early Saturday morning.

Alexander Aguilar, 63, was driving south on the 1800 block of Douglas Road when his car crossed the median and struck the barrier wall on the east side of the roadway, police said.

The car bounced off the wall and crossed back over the median, striking a tree on the west side of the street just north of Taft Street, according to officials.

A bad crash Saturday morning on the Westside sent a mother and her 3 children to the hospital, according to witnesses at the scene. It happened around 9 a.m. on Cassat Avenue near I-10. State troopers say a woman crashed her car into a power pole, but someone may have run her off the road. The mother and her three children were taken to the hospital and those who saw the aftermath of the wreck said they saw the kids with broken bones, gashes in their heads, other serious injuries.
