An Ottawa County Sheriff's deputy and two others were injured in a Wednesday night crash on I-96 after an SUV collided with the deputy's cruiser in wintery conditions. The deputy stopped his cruiser on I-96 West in Crockery township while the deputy was investigating a rollover crash that occured minutes earlier. The driver in the rolled-over SUV, Justine Vingsheim, 27, was sitting in the cruiser with the deputy at about 9 PM Friday while they waited for a tow truck. It was then that an SUV driven by Chasity Dabon, 33, rear-ended the cruiser.

It was about 7:00pm when an Ottawa County Sheriff's deputy was driving on I-96 to a reported rollover, and he was rear-ended by another vehicle. The deputy, the woman who was driving the other vehicle, and a passenger in that vehicle were all taken to the hospital, though no injuries were serious.

At 1:30 PM Wednesday a 31-year-old man was driving his SUV and struck an Amish buggy driven by a 42-year-old man with an 18-year-old passenger on Cass City Road near Cass City, Michigan. The SUV's driver was attempting to pass the buggy and lost control on the icy road, rear-ending the buggy. The accident caused extensive damage to the buggy, however its occupants did not report any injuries. The horse sustained minor cuts, but is believed to be fine, according to police investigators. The driver of the SUV was uninjured as well.

A car driven by a 22-year-old man from Gladwin rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy containing two adults and seven children. Five people inside the buggy were transported to a local hospital for their injuries. These included both 34-year-old adults, and 3 children ages 10, 5, and 8 months. The horse was also severely injured and had to be euthanized. Foggy weather conditions and alcohol were considered main factors in this accident.
