Ottawa County sheriff's deputy injured, cruiser struck from behind on I-96

An Ottawa County sheriff's deputy and two others were injured after an SUV collided with a police cruiser on I-96 in poor weather conditions.
An Ottawa County Sheriff's deputy and two others were injured in a Wednesday night crash on I-96 after an SUV collided with the deputy's cruiser in wintery conditions. The deputy stopped his cruiser on I-96 West in Crockery township while the deputy was investigating a rollover crash that occured minutes earlier. The driver in the rolled-over SUV, Justine Vingsheim, 27, was sitting in the cruiser with the deputy at about 9 PM Friday while they waited for a tow truck. It was then that an SUV driven by Chasity Dabon, 33, rear-ended the cruiser. Dabon stated to deputies that she was unable to see the cruiser due to the whiteout conditions. Dabon and her passenger, Sheila Dabon, 53, and the deputy were sent to area hospitals and were listed in good condition. We will ahve more details on this story as they become available.
