The accident happened when workers were loading material into perforated pipe being installed into a drilling pipe in southern Lea County, New Mexico on Wednesday. As-yet-unknown factors caused an explosion, and metal debris from the blast struck the victims. James Rusty Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tyler Winters was airlifted to Lubbock.The oilfield is in the area of NM 128 and Orla Road near Hobbs. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

Robert Archuleta was driving eastbound on US 380 when he ran into the back of a semi-truck that was stopped in the wrong lane. Visibility was extermely poor at the time due to heavy fog. Archuleta has since been pronounced dead. Three other people riding in his vehicle were transported to a medical center in New Mexico; their conditions have not been released. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

Ramirez was taken to Lea Regional Medical Center before being pronounced dead. Police suspect Ramirez may have been under the influence of alcohol. Shubert will likely not be charged.
