Haase and Erickson had both pulled over to check an overturned vehicle on Belfair-Tahuya Road for anyone in need of help, when they themselves were struck by a car driven by Docie Burch, who had lost control on the icy bridge. Both men were injured, and while Haase remains in critical condition Erickson has been treated and released. Both Burch and a nearby resident, Jason Costa, stopped to aid the injured men and contact emergency services. Teresita Ronquillo was driving in a car with passenger Steven Schmele on Interstate 82 when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road and span out in fron of a tractor-trailer driven by Gerald Krupp, 63. The tractor-trailer struck the car, damaging it beyond repair. Ronquillo and Schmele were transported to the emergency room where they remain in good condition. Krupp was not injured. Ronquillo will reportedly be charged for driving too fast for conditions.

A pickup spun out on I-90 while descending from the summit at Snoqualmie Pass, causing three semi-trailers to crash, according to one of the truck drivers. One of the semis tipped onto its side after he lost control trying to avoid the spun-out pickup, but the semi driver is OK. The two other semis seemed to have struck the overturned semi.

At around 9:00am, Scott was driving east on I-90 when he attempted to change lanes. Because of the icy conditions on the road, he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over, injuring both him and his passenger Rees. An 18-year-old driver was traveling westbound, making a right turn at SE 38th and 150th Avenue SE, just south of an I-90 interchange in Eastgate, when he struck and killed a 77-year-old woman who was crossing the street on foot. The woman was then struck by a second vehicle, a Ford pickup.

A 25-year-old Yakima man died Friday as a passenger in a Jeep that went over an embankment and rolled down steep terrain near Yakima. Jarrod M. Oyarzo, was ejected and died at the crash site. The driver, also 25, was transported a local hospital, where he was treated and released. He was not identified as of this report. The wreck occurred in icy road conditions on Forest Service 591.

Tanner Justin Gonsalez was driving on County Road U-Southeast when icy conditions caused him to lose control and crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck. He reportedly died at the scene. More info will be posted as it is released.

Sharon Deppner, 74, was killed in a collision involving a semi truck and two vehicles on Highway 2 about five miles west of Airway Heights, Washington at about 8:41 a.m. Two cars were eastbound Highway 2 approaching Deep Creek Road when one of them lost control at the same time that a semi was traveling westbound in the same area. One of the vehicles, a pickup, lost control because of snowy road conditions.

Washington State University student Silvia Muro-Escalante was headed west on State Route 26 just after 6 p.m. when her car left the roadway and rolled 40 yards. Her passengers, Karen Rodriguez and Magly Mendoza-Salinas, were also injured, and a third passenger was uninjured. Muro-Escalante was transported by MedStar to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston in unknown condition.

A driver hit a 10-year-old boy, then crashed into a fence near East Mission Avenue and North Cook Street around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in north Spokane. The boy suffered serious injuries and is currently in the hospital in critical condition. The driver is cooperating with investigators. While there was about a half inch of snow on the ground, it is unknown at this time if weather conditions were at play. The crash site is just a few blocks from Stevens Elementary.
