Yakima man killed when Jeep rolls off mountain road

Yakima County Search and Rescue and a city of Yakima Fire Department technical team assisted the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office. Neither the driver nor passenger wore seat belts, the release said.

The release said the wreck occurred in “wintry conditions” on Forest Service Road 591, which is off of State Route 410, about 2.5 miles into Kittitas County. 

A 25-year-old Yakima man died Friday as a passenger in a Jeep that went over an embankment and rolled down steep terrain near Yakima. Jarrod M. Oyarzo, was ejected and died at the crash site. The driver, also 25, was transported a local hospital, where he was treated and released. He was not identified as of this report. The wreck occurred in icy road conditions on Forest Service 591.
