Early in the morning, two men in a Toyota pickup were struck by two men in a Ford pickup that were trying to avoid a deer. Adding further complications, the roads were wet and there was fog in the area. While both the men in the Toyota were killed, neither of the men in the Ford were injured.

A 69-year-old man was killed in snowy crash along SR-9 in Lake Stevens Saturday evening, February 8, 2014. The collision happened just before 10 p.m. near where the highway intersects with SR-92. Arthur Whetstone was driving south on SR-9 when he lost control and spun out sideways into the northbound lanes. Moments later, he was struck by a pickup truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver of a car has been killed in a collision with a pickup on Highway 2 near Snohomish. The Washington State Patrol says the car crossed the center line and hit the truck head-on about 5 a.m. Monday near the intersection with Highway 9. The driver of the car died at the scene and the pickup driver was taken to an Everett hospital in serious condition. A State Trooper stated that investigators are looking into the cause of the crash but there was heavy frost on the ground and roads around Snohomish County were slick.

One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5. One vehicle was headed down the hill on Barkley Boulevard around 9:55 a.m. when it slid on the icy road, crossed the centerline and hit another car headed up the hill. The downhill car caught on fire, and witnesses were unable to help the driver out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. That driver died at the scene, and the other driver was not injured.

One person was killed and three people were injured early Wednesday morning in a Burien crash. The collision happened at the intersection of 112th and 12th Avenue before 3 a.m when a vehicle crashed into a tree. There were three men and one woman, believed to be in their 20s, in the vehicle. One person died at the scene and the three others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Deputies believe speed and fog were factors in the crash and it is unknown if alcohol was involved.

Six people, including four children, were hospitalized Monday afternoon after a “high speed rear-end collision” in Battle Ground, police said. A westbound Toyota FJ Cruiser reared-ended a GMC Yukon near Southeast Eaton Boulevard and South Grace Boulevard, according to a spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue. The crash was reported at 3:44 p.m. During the accident, the Cruiser crumpled the Yukon so badly that it reached the back row of seats, where two children were sitting. Nobody, however, was seriously injured in the crash.

A man was trapped in his pickup after it left the roadway and overturned in a ditch Wednesday morning in Hockinson. The crash was reported at 8:57 a.m. at 17705 N.E. 119th St. Responding firefighters with District 3 had to tear off the door to get the driver out of the truck. The man, whose name was not released, had a shoulder injury but was otherwise OK. A spokesman said the roadways were extremely icy the morning of the accident.

A Grapeview woman was injured Wednesday morning when she lost control of her car on an icy roadway on State Route 3, in Mason County. She refused aid at the scene, according to a release from Washington State Patrol. Jessica Roswold, 24, was traveling southbound on State Route 3 when she lost control of her black 2006 Jeep Wrangler. She crossed the center line and wound up in the ditch on the northbound side of the highway. The car rolled and came to rest on the passenger side. According to the release, Roswold was wearing a seat belt.

One person has died and eight people were injured in a series of accidents just west of Spokane this morning. The accidents have blocked Interstate 90 eastbound, and westbound traffic is moving stop-and-go. The accidents appear to have been caused by icy conditions on the road and drivers traveling too fast for the conditions. A pickup truck lost control near the overpass crossing West Medical Lake 4 Lakes Road. The pickup crossed the median and headed into oncoming traffic.

Zack Davis, 18 years old, passed away Monday night. He was involved in a 6 car accident on the interchange between Highway 16 and I-5. The road was icy at the time. Mr. Davis's car was rear-ended while he was still in his car. The driver of that car will be cited. What money damages are recoverable in a death claim? Every death from an accident is tragic.
