Three off-duty New Jersey police officers and a friend were returning from a visit to strip club when they drove the wrong way down the West Shore Expressway and struck a tractor-trailer. Two died, including 28-year-old Linden Officer Frank Viggiano and 28-year-old Joe Rodriguez. The driver, Pedro Abad, 27, and 23-year-old passenger Patrik Kudlac, sustained serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals in critical condition. The driver of the tractr-trailer sustained injuries deemed non-life threatening. This incident is still under investigation.

Brandon Baez struck a taxi that was stopped at a traffic light as Baez was driving the wrong way down Newark Street, a one-way street. Baez then allegedly struck another stopped car. No one was injured, but damage was done to all vehicles involved. Baez was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, and was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a Breathalyser test, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

At around 2:45 a.m., Sara I. Lee, 50, of Hackettstown, was driving a 2012 Nissan Sentra the wrong way down Route 22 East near Mountain Avenue in Bridgewater when she crashed into a black BMW 328i driven by Karen A. Facciponti, 35, of Dunellen. Both Lee and Faccioponti were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville. Facciponti was treated for minor injuries and released, and Lee was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m.

The accident occurred around 7:19 a.m. this morning on the New Jersey Turnpike near mile marker 102.6 in Elizabeth. A Toyota RAV4 driven by Jinkui He, 48 of Philadelphia, crossed into the outer roadway into the path of a Ford van driving north. The driver of the van was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the rear of Mr. He’s vehicle, which then struck a guardrail. The van was also hit by a car from behind. No physical injuries were observed on He but the man was unconscious and not breathing when police arrived.

A 25-year-old Haworth man was killed in a car crash early Wednesday morning after he drove the wrong way on Route 80 westbound and collided with a tractor-trailer. Sean Hernandez was pronounced dead on the highway at 1:29 a.m. The tractor-trailer driver, Alphe Boudereau, 52, of Canada, was not injured.

Sloan, and Giamanco, and Zarpentine were airlifted to Morristown Medical center. Carroll and Thompson were also taken to Morristown Medical Center, Fedge said. Conditions for the passengers are not currently available.
