Both lanes of Route 22 East, including the Route 202/206 South exit ramp, were closed for approximately four hours while authorities investigated, he said.
At around 2:45 a.m., Sara I. Lee, 50, of Hackettstown, was driving a 2012 Nissan Sentra the wrong way down Route 22 East near Mountain Avenue in Bridgewater when she crashed into a black BMW 328i driven by Karen A. Facciponti, 35, of Dunellen. Both Lee and Faccioponti were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville. Facciponti was treated for minor injuries and released, and Lee was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m.
