Two workers were seriously injured after falling from scaffolding at a skyscraper under construction in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood Thursday afternoon, a fire department spokeswoman said. The incident was reported at about 2:20 p.m. at 350 Mission St., according to the fire chief's office. The two workers were installing scaffolding at the site when it collapsed, sending one worker falling 40 feet and another worker falling about 30 feet, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said. They were both taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Talmadge said.

A motorcyclist died following a crash in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Tuesday evening.

The crash was reported at 5:14 p.m. on John F. Kennedy Drive near Spreckels Lake.

The 32-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle east on John F. Kennedy Drive when he struck a curb then hit a parked car, according to police.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died about two hours later, police said.

The man’s name has not yet been released by the medical examiner’s office.

San Jose police on Sunday were investigating a hit-and-run collision near an apartment complex that left a pedestrian dead. The incident happened around 3 p.m. near The Woods Drive and Snell Avenue in south San Jose. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the ground, bleeding. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner's office has not yet released the victim's name.

A man who died in a motorcycle crash in San Francisco early Saturday morning was a well-known local business owner.

Josh Epple, 42, and his brother are owners of Drewes Meats on Church Street in San Francisco's Noe Valley.

Epple died early Saturday morning after losing control of his motorcycle and falling from an elevated portion of Highway 101 near 10th street.

Epple took over Drewes Meats in 1998.

The business started 125 years ago and is thought to be the oldest operating butcher shop in California.

A person was struck and killed by a Muni train at the Powell station in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon, according to a fire lieutenant.

The collision was reported around 2:40 p.m. at the Powell Muni station, a San Francisco Fire Lt. said. Emergency responders' arrived at the station to find a person on the train tracks who had been struck by an outbound train, he said.

The person, later identified as Michael Mendez, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A mechanic was crushed to death by a tractor in a workplace accident Thursday at a Volvo-owned construction equipment company in San Leandro, authorities said. The man was working beneath a front loader that had been lifted up on jacks in a yard of Volvo Construction Equipment and Services at 1944 Marina Boulevard, said Aisha Knowles, a spokeswoman for the Alameda County Fire Department. The vehicle slipped and fell on top of him around 9:30 a.m., Knowles said. Firefighters had to use a mechanical hoist to lift the tractor off the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved in a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian early Wednesday morning in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood has been arrested.

San Francisco police said the collision occurred in the area of Pacific and Van Ness avenues about 12:55 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a person on the roadway.

A San Francisco police spokesman said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men and a woman were arrested in Antioch early Wednesday morning after leading police on a chase that ended in a multi-car crash that sent one person to the hospital, according to police.

Police said that around 4:50 a.m., an Antioch officer attempted to pull over a stolen car but the driver sped away, leading the officer on a chase for several miles.

As the chase continued, the driver ran a red light at Lone Tree Way and Davison Drive and collided with three other vehicles in the intersection, police said.

San Francisco police chased an SUV wanted in connection with a Bayview district shooting down Highway 101 on Tuesday night, arresting the driver after a crash near the San Francisco International Airport, authorities said.

A search was still in progress late Tuesday for several occupants who fled from the SUV after the crash, including the shooting suspect, police said.

A driver was found dead by search and rescue crews Sunday morning after his vehicle veered off the roadway and down a steep wooded embankment in Mill Valley, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 10:30 a.m. the Marin County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team was called upon by Mill Valley police and fire crews to assist in locating the driver of a black Jeep Cherokee that had traveled about 50 feet down an embankment in the 100 block of Greenwood Way, a Marin Co. spokesman said.
