Pedestrian Hit, Killed In San Francisco’s Pacific Heights.
The driver involved in a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian early Wednesday morning in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood has been arrested.
San Francisco police said the collision occurred in the area of Pacific and Van Ness avenues about 12:55 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a person on the roadway.
A San Francisco police spokesman said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shyy said investigators learned the driver, later identified as Mageb Hussain, 27, began to walk away from the scene after the crash, but witnesses pointed him out and he was detained.
He has been arrested on felony vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run charges.
This marks the third vehicle versus pedestrian incident on Van Ness Avenue so far in 2014. On the evening of January 7, a pedestrian was struck and killed while running across Van Ness Avenue near City Hall. And on February 5, a pedestrian was struck at Van Ness and Grove Street by a hit-and-run driver, and suffered life-threatening injuries.
