I-26

Two people were killed in a car accident on Interstate 26 Saturday night when a 2012 Dodge Challenger, driven by Ramesses Mahdee, rear-ended and a  Mazda sedan, driven by Tommy Barrett. The collision caused both cars to leave the right side of the road and hit trees.

A Greenville man was killed by a vehicle after his vehicle broke down on I-26 near Chapin early Sunday morning. Troopers say the man was in the roadway when a vehicle hit him around 2:40 a.m. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Ja'vontae Quayshawn Davis.

Two people were killed in a head-on crash on I-26 near Ridgeville, Dorchester County, on Friday morning. The crash happened at about 2:40 a.m. on I-26 West when a Mitsubishi heading east in the westbound lane struck a Mazda traveling west in the westbound lane head-on. Both drivers were killed.  

Though the man was wearing a helmet and transported to Palmetto Richland Hospital, he died of his injuries the next day.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle after running off the road and into a tree, being fatally injured in the process.
