Oregon 34

Shortly before 3 p.m. Joseph Atterbury was headed eastbound on Oregon 34 when he lost control for undetermined reasons. He crossed into westbound traffic and collided head-on with Mary A. Welch. Both of the drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was a 27 year old woman, but her identity has not yet been released. Following the crash, Police said the Oregon 34 closure could last some time while officer investigate the single-vehicle crash and conduct a reconstruction. Motorists should expect delays. More details to come.

An Oregon State Police trooper was injured Friday night when his patrol car was rear-ended as he was wrapping up a traffic stop on Oregon 34 east of Corvallis.
