Ariel Sharee Backstrom, 15, killed and two people injured in 3-vehicle wreck on NE Rice Mine Loop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

The accident involves three vehicles and there is one reported fatality according to Lt. Teena Richardson. The identity of the deceased is being withed pending notification of next of kin.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is currently investigating a fatal accident. The accident happened in the vicinity of NE Rice Mine Loop directly under Finnell Bridge. The cause of the accident is being investigated. NE Rice Mine Loop will be closed until the scene is clear.

A 15-year-old passenger was killed while a teenage driver and another driver were injured in a three-vehicle wreck Thursday morning on Northeast Rice Mine Loop under Finnell Bridge. Northeast Rice Mine Loop is closed while crews work to clear the scene. Another driver involved in the wreck was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers responding to the wreck found a Mazda 6 occupied by the two teen girls hit on its side. A fatal wreck is under investigation in Tuscaloosa, according to authorities.

A teenager was killed and two people injured in a three-vehicle wreck in Tuscaloosa Thursday morning. The 16-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger were unconscious. Both were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where the driver is in stable condition and the passenger was pronounced dead. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to DCH for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The accident was reported at 7:40 a.m. on Rice Mine Loop in Tuscaloosa.
