Two people were killed today in an early morning wreck on Alabama 127 when a vehicle left the roadway and caught fire, authorities said.

2 killed in early morning Limestone County wreck Thursday

A single-vehicle crash killed two people in Limestone County on Alabama 127, three miles north of Athens, at 4:35 a.m Thursday. Both people were killed when the 2008 Chevrolet Impala they were in left the road, hit a tree and then caught on fire. They were both pronounced dead on the scene. Officials have not released the identities of the victims. Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.

A man and woman, believed to be from Athens, died in the one-vehicle crash Thursday at 4:35 a.m. on Alabama 127 in Elkmont, Limestone County Coroner Mike West said.
