Search continues for missing man after barge, pontoon wreck on Wilson Lake

Crews are continuing a search Monday for one person after a collision between a barge and a pontoon boat Saturday night on Wilson Lake. Florence police confirmed the collision happened on Wilson Lake near Wilson Dam just before 10 p.m. Eight people in the pontoon boat went overboard, according to ALEA troopers. Crews are driving back and forth from the Colbert County side to the Lauderdale County side of the water. Two people were initially unaccounted for, however the body of one person, 79-year-old Catherine Ekholm, was recovered around 12:30 a.m.

Second body recovered from weekend boating accident

Search and rescue officials this morning found the body of 62-year-old Sid Elliot, who had been missing since Saturday night when the boat he was on collided with a barge, officials said. Elliot's body was found just east of the Lakeside Highlands subdivision.
