Victims killed in Monday's 10-vehicle crash now identified

The vehicles were piled in the roadway and in the median of I-65 near Hyundai Boulevard. That's near the Hyundai manufacturing plant, several miles south of the I-65/85 interchange. 
Christine Edwards, 49, her husband Dedrick Edwards, 50, and their son, Dedrick Edwards, Jr., 10, were all killed when they were driving on Interstate 65 in a Chevrolet Tahoe in foggy weather when it became involved in the pile-up with six other passenger vehicles and three 18-wheelers. Two other occupants in the Tahoe were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other vehicles included A 1998 Kenworth tractor-trailer, a 1992 Mazda pickup truck, a 2002 Honda Civic, a 2003 Nissan Altima, a 2006 Toyota Camry, a 2010 Fiat, a 2010 Toyota Corolla, a 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer, and a 2002 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Five injured victims were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Medics worked for hours to get victims out of the smashed vehicles. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
