ASU student dies in on-campus crash, driver faces murder charge
Demetrius Bell, 24, of Greenville, was a passenger in a car that crashed into a tree in the 800 block of Jackson Street, according to Montgomery police.
The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old June Malaefou of Louisiana, was charged with one count of murder in connection to the crash and was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility on Wednesday, police stated. Her bond was set at $50,000.
Police investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash.

June Naisina Malaefou, who was 21 at the time of the crash, was charged with murder initially but pleaded guilty to manslaughter, according to Deputy District Attorney Sean McTear.
