A Phoenix garbage-truck driver failed to yield before the truck collided with a motorcycle Thursday afternoon in a wreck that left the motorcyclist in critical condition, according to Phoenix police.
A Phoenix garbage-truck driver failed to yield before the truck collided with a motorcycle Thursday afternoon in a wreck that left the motorcyclist in critical condition, according to Phoenix police.
The truck was leaving the driveway of the Carefree Transfer Station near Deer Valley Road and 16th Street in north Phoenix at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and the driver did not yield for an eastbound Yamaha motorcyclist, said a spokesman with the Phoenix police.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, hit the front of the truck and was ejected from the bike.
The motorcyclist has life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital where he is in critical condition, police said.
The city driver was evaluated and found to have not been impaired.
The investigation is ongoing.
