The man had been laying across the tracks, Union Pacific spokesman said in a voicemail message.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and Union Pacific officials responded to the scene of the collision, which occurred about 9 a.m. near Roseville Road and Palm Avenue. The man’s identity was not available.

The train was heading from Chicago to Lathrop. It has been moved from the area, but the investigation continues, he said.

It typically takes more than a mile for crew members to stop a freight train after a collision. The crew members involved in today’s collision will receive counseling through Union Pacific’s peer support program.

My father was Robert S. French, he worked in Sacramento, CA. I was 8 so I do not remember the exact railroad co. I do remember the words Santa Fe on the cars. The train was to change tracks. It didn't and ran over my father killing him. I need to know if there is any information on the accident, it happened in either 1971 or 1972. Please let me know what you found out.
