A Denver intersection was shut down late Wednesday night as police investigated a crash involving a car and a bicycle.

A Denver intersection was shut down late Wednesday night as police investigated a crash involving a car and a bicycle.

The collision happened just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and Alcott Street.

A Denver Police crash detective said a woman was driving her car eastbound on Alameda when a man on a bike ran the stop sign at Alcott.

She crashed into him, breaking his leg and leaving his bicycle in pieces.

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The woman initially left the scene of the crash but returned a short time later, according to the detective.

The woman will not face charges.

Police closed down South Alcott Street at Alameda Avenue while they investigated.

They opened the intersection just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
