Lavon Rosa Nicole Reese killed in 2-car-collision at N. Monroe Street and Talpeco Rd in Tallahassee, Florida
Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Fatal January Crash
Tallahassee Police Department has confirmed one driver was killed and another injured in a morning car crash in Tallahassee.
Ashli Regina Harvey, 27, was allegedly driving as fast as 89 MPH in a 45 MPH zone when Lavon Rosa Nicole Reese attempted to cross Monroe Street from Talpeco Road in her Volkswagen. The collision launched both vehicles 75 feet from the point of impact. Harvey was arrested in May 2015 on charges of Vehicular Homicide and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in connection with the accident.
Why every fatality from a crash is not legally a wrongful death
After someone dies in a motor-vehicle accident, grieving family members and friends are often left with many questions. What caused the accident? Could it have been avoided? What do they do now that their loved one is gone?
Sometimes a fatal collision happens through no one's fault. Crashes caused by weather and road conditions, or by wildlife in the roadway, are examples. But when a fatal crash is caused by negligence, then family members should pursue a wrongful death claim, to uphold the victim's rights and begin the financial recovery process.
