1 dead after train collides with car in Auburndale

One person is dead after an Amtrak train collided with a vehicle in Auburndale Monday evening. The accident happened at Stadium Road at Bennett Street. The car's driver was killed. Witnesses told police the arms were down and the lights were flashing at the tracks. Cars were stopped on both sides and the driver went around other traffic and crossed the railroad tracks, according to witnesses.

1 person killed when Amtrak collides with car in Auburndale

A car was hit by a train in Auburndale and one person was killed, officials with the City of Auburndale said Monday. Auburndale officials have not yet released the name of the victim. Photos from the scene show a red crumpled up car and rescuers trying to get to the person inside. Witnesses said the crash happened on Stadium Road near Auburndale High School. Lisa Textor said some parents jumped the 6 foot chain link fence to try to save the person in the car.
