Police said the girl was standing behind the vehicle when her father Kristian L. Brown, 22, was backing the vehicle out of the driveway; he did not know his daughter was behind it.

Kriziyah Brown was a happy toddler. At 18 months, she was silly and her smile could light up a room. On Friday morning, one of Kriziyah’s cousins said she wished she could see the little girl smile one more time.

Brown ran out to get diapers Thursday night. It was dark and raining. St. Pete police officers said Kriziyah followed her father.
The father actually continued to drive away after running over his daughter, not initially realizing he had hit her. Kriziyah was pronounced dead at the scene.
