A deadly accident shut down the southbound lanes on Interstate 75 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Hillsborough County late Tuesday evening. The roadway was closed early Wednesday morning for a clean up. It reopened around 6 a.m. A Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer says the accident involved at least six vehicles including a tractor trailer. According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the tractor trailer driver Alexander J. Nealy, 34, of Apollo Beach, couldn't stop the semi on time and rear-ended a Toyota that was stopped in heavy traffic. The collision caused it to hit the car in front of it and started the multi-car chain wreck. The Toyota caught fire and the driver died at the scene. Authorities are working on identifying the driver's family. They will release his name later. Officials say two other people were transported to a local hospital. They were reported to be in fair condition. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, according to the FHP report. The interstate was closed until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
