Tampa woman arrested in fatal Zephyrhills hit-and-run

A 31-year-old Tampa woman is facing charges in a Pasco County fatal hit-and-run. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Lorena Gonzalez left the scene of an 8:30 p.m. crash on Christmas Eve on Paul Buchman Highway, just north of Pattie Road in Zephyrhills. Troopers said 76-year-old Nicholas Panessidi walked into the path of a car along the roadway, was struck and died at the scene. Authorities located Gonzalez and her damaged car at her Tampa home later that night. She has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
