A 27-year-old College Park woman was arrested in a fatal hit-and-run crash after her roommate noticed that her SUV was damaged and called police. Adriana Valenzuela faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident with a death. She hit 44-year-old bicyclist Steven Michael Williams II about 8:20 p.m. Sunday, near the intersection of North Orange Blossom Trail and Golfview Street in College Park, Georgia. One witness told police Valenzuela was driving behind her in a white 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe on Orange Blossom Trail when Valenzuela quickly switched lanes to get around the witness. Williams was riding his bike alongside the curb. The witness "then observed the suspect vehicle strike the bicyclist, sending him flying into the air along with the bicycle." Williams died at the scene. Witnesses said Valenzuela quickly departed after the crash without stopping. Valenzuela roommate, Kristin Lill, and one anonymous tipster both led police to Valenzuela. When police found Valenzuela Monday morning, two workers were helping her change a flat tire caused by the crash. Valenzuela's SUV also had front-end damage. Debris found at the scene matched pieces missing from the SUV. Orange paint from Williams' bike was also found on Valenzuela's SUV. Valenzuela claimed she hit a sign at a Taco Bell restaurant. Valenzuela is being held in the Orange County Jail on $10,000 bail.
