Fayetteville Police spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett said that police were called to the area of Highway 85 South between the Publix and Kroger grocery stores and just north of Highway 92.

On Tuesday, officers identified the man as 69-year-old Robert Ernest Chancellor. His wife was the passenger in the pickup truck, and she was initially listed in critical condition. Her injuries have since been determined to be non-life threatening.
