A Cobb County middle school student is critically hurt after being hit by a car while walking home Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson from the school district said. Authorities said it happened at 4:20 p.m. on Sewell Mill Road near Danforth Drive(link is external), which is also near Dodgen Middle School.

Officer Aaron Wilson, a spokesman for Cobb Police, said the boy was crossing Sewell Mill Road near Danforth Drive at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a a 2017 Mazda CX-5 driven by Maria Murray, 61, of Marietta, in the westbound lane.
