The Hart County Sheriff’s Office said it responded at about 1:50 p.m. near the Carters Ferry Boat Ramp. The ramp is on Lake Hartwell, a popular destination for water activities(link is external) roughly 115 miles northeast of Atlanta.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said Georgia game wardens on patrol responded to the crash at around 1:50 p.m. on May 22, 2022. When they arrived, they found Beasley on a bass boat that he was operating by himself.
