Multiple agencies are at the scene of the crash right now including Georgia State Patrol, Glynn County Emergency Management Agency, Glynn County Fire Department, Glynn County Police Department, the Glynn County Coroner's Office, and then Glynn County Airport Commission.
Small plane crashes into St. Simons Island home
No one was home at the time and the plane didn't break the exterior wall of the home.
A Brunswick pilot was killed after a plane crashed around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday in a house near the Malcolm McKinnon Airport on Saint Simons Island. James Ronald Wood, 68, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Wood was the pilot and owner of the plane. The crash did cause damage the home but there was no intrusion of the craft into the building, and no one on the ground was injured. Officials with the NTSB and FAA are en route to the scene to investigate the crash. We are awaiting information on the cause of the crash.
