ATV driver killed in crash with Macoupin sheriff’s deputy
State police said the deputy, Tim Burnet, 37, of Carlinville, was headed north on Illinois 159 with his emergency lights on and siren activated shortly after 9 p.m.
Burnet was responding to a domestic disturbance call in Royal Lakes, the coroner said.

According to information provided by the Illinois State Police, an ATV driven by Michael Cathorall was struck from behind by a Macoupin County Sheriff's Deputy as both were traveling north on Illinois Route 159 just south of the Illinois Route 138 junction.
