A Bourbonnais, Ill., woman was killed and two other drivers were injured in a crash just before 6 a.m. Monday at 109th Avenue and Iowa Street. Jeanelle Fosaugh, 52, died at the scene from blunt force trauma caused by the crash, according to the Lake County coroner's office. Crown Point police received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash east of the Interstate 65 interchange at 5:44 a.m. Joseph Barrera Jr., 26, of Crown Point, was driving east on 109th when his car crossed the center line and hit a car driven by Fosaugh. Her car left the road and landed on its roof in an adjacent field. A third vehicle driven by Lori Vanwaardenburg, 44, of Hebron, also was involved in the crash. Barrera and Vanwaardenburg sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point. The Crown Point Police Department's crash response team continues to investigate and plans to release more information as it becomes available. "Our crash team will continue with its follow-up investigation over the next several weeks," said Crown Point Police Chief Pete Land. "As part of this, we will be looking to calculate vehicle speeds and define any other contributing factors that may have played a role in this crash." Police reopened 109th Avenue about noon.
