Two people were killed when a car struck a light pole on the Interstate 90 Jane Addams Memorial Tollway in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates Sunday morning, state police said.
The crash happened about 7:45 a.m. when the driver of a silver Toyota Corolla headed west on I-90 near Barrington Road lost control of the car, fell off the roadway and struck a light pole, according to preliminary information from Illinois State Police.
The car came to a stop on the left shoulder of the eastbound lanes of the tollway, police said.
At least two people were killed in the crash, police said. Their ages and genders were not released Sunday morning.
A third person in the car survived the collision, but the person’s condition was not immediately known, a State Trooper said.
All lanes on the tollway near Barrington Road had reopened by 12:30 p.m., after they were closed for nearly four hours as crews cleared the wreck.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
