Police pursued the white SUV and arrested the woman driving, but during the arrest, a man inside the SUV jumped behind the wheel and tried to drive away. As he tried to flee, he crashed into a Maroon Ford Focus.

The driver of the Ford, 47-year-old Stacy Vaughn, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:29 a.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She lived in the South Side Park Manor neighborhood.
