3 DEAD, 1 INJURED IN KANKAKEE CRASH

Police and the Kankakee County coroner said a Nissan Altima traveling at a high speed on Route 45/52 near the southbound exit from I-57 struck a stoplight around 5 a.m. Monday. The car continued for about 75 feet before coming to rest in a ditch.

Identities of 3 Kankakee crash victims revealed by authorities

The three were pronounced dead at the scene at 5:27 a.m. Monday, said Gessner, who added the crash could have taken place Sunday night. Kankakee police discovered the accident at 5 a.m. Monday, according to a Police Department news release.

Family of crash victim faces another tragedy

The death of Eddie Sarkozi in a fatal car crash on Monday morning will be yet another loss to a family already suffering from losses — one of which is yet to see justice.

Sarkozi's mother, Patricia Easter Sarkozi, is one of the three victims of Aureliuese "Buddy" Piper, who will be going to trial on first-degree murder charges for the fifth time. Past trials have resulted in two hung juries and two overturned convictions since the killings back in 1997.
