One person seriously injured and several children suffer minor injuries after their car collides head-on with a vehicle driven by a drunk driver on I-355 near Lockport, Illinois

A driver who was allegedly drunk and driving the wrong way on Interstate 355 injured multiple people in a crash Monday night. About 8 p.m., the driver was heading south on northbound I-355 lanes near 143rd Street near southwest suburban Lockport when the vehicle struck another head on, Illinois State said. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital for a broken leg, Pilgrim said. There were also an unspecified number of children in that vehicle with minor injuries, police said. The driver, whose age or gender was not yet known, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
