MAN DRAGGED BY CAR, KILLED, WHILE TRYING TO SELL HIS PHONE IN ROUND LAKE BEACH
Authorities said he had placed an ad on an app called "Offer Up" to sell his phone and had previously agreed on a price, time and place to make the transaction. He approached the passenger side of a vehicle with five teen girls inside, ages 16-18, investigators said. After confirming that one of the girls was the potential buyer, the girl in the front passenger seat asked to see the phone. When he handed it over, one of the girls allegedly gave him an envelope that contained only a fraction of the money agreed upon.
Why every fatality from a crash is not legally a wrongful death
After someone dies in a motor-vehicle accident, grieving family members and friends are often left with many questions. What caused the accident? Could it have been avoided? What do they do now that their loved one is gone?
Sometimes a fatal collision happens through no one's fault. Crashes caused by weather and road conditions, or by wildlife in the roadway, are examples. But when a fatal crash is caused by negligence, then family members should pursue a wrongful death claim, to uphold the victim's rights and begin the financial recovery process.
