Donald R. Childers, 73, Betty J. Childers, 68, killed; David Grace, 27, injured in wreck on Illinois 34 in Saline County

Donald R. Childers was driving a Dodge Durango at about 3:10 p.m. headed north on Illinois 34 when he swerved to avoid a slower-moving vehicle in the road. The pavement was wet, and he lost control of his vehicle, which then left the road and struck a tree. Donald Childers and Betty J. Childers, 68, both of Marion, died from their injuries. David Grace, a passenger in the vehicle, was injured.
