Pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle while walking along the shoulder of Highway 30 near Mechanicsville, Iowa

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the victim was walking along the shoulder of Highway 30 near Franklin Avenue just before 11:30 Tuesday night when he attempted to cross the road for an unknown reason. The man was hit by a 2004 Ford Expedition and died at the scene.
