Woman dies in Merriam tree cutting accident

MERRIAM, Kan. — A 29-year-old woman is dead after a tree cutting accident happened in Merriam on Friday night, according to police. She was helping remove a tree at a house just south of Shawnee Mission Parkway on W. 64th Street when it fell on top of her.  Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene, and she has not yet been identified.

Police identify woman killed in Merriam tree-cutting accident

Kimberly Hurt was killed when a large tree fell on her at a home in the 8400 block of West 64th Street. The accident occurred about 7 p.m. when Hurt and family members were trying to remove the tree, police said.
