Man killed in Olathe wreck; second driver arrested, cited for DUI

A 32-year-old man was cited for driving under the influence in an early morning wreck that caused the death of another driver.

The 32-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle wasn’t injured, and police arrested him.

Investigators suspect DUI may have contributed to fatal crash

Investigators say the victimized driver was traveling north on 56 Highway when he was hit by a driver headed west.

The Kansas City Star reports that 32-year-old Souksavanh Chamnongchith is jailed in Johnson County on $100,000 bond. It isn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.

Idir Lounes, 32, was driving the northbound car and was killed.

The collision occurred at 3 a.m. on 56 Highway at 159th Street. A car headed north on the highway was struck by another vehicle traveling west on 159th. The 32-year-old man driving the northbound car, Idir Lounes, was killed. The driver of the other vehicle, Souksavanh Chamnongchith, 32, was arrested for alleged DUI.
