2 dead, 1 injured in wrong-way crash on Interstate 20

MONROE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say two people died and one was seriously injured when a pickup traveling the wrong way on Interstate 20 hit a car head-on. Troopers say Williams, as well as a passenger, 19-year-old Jamerro May, of Monroe, were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said in a news release that a pickup, driven by 41-year-old Jorge Benavides of Oxford, Mississippi, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when he struck an eastbound car driven by 20-year-old Thomas Williams, of Delhi. Another passenger in the car was taken to a Monroe hospital with serious injuries. The accident happened late Saturday night just east of Monroe.
