Family pleads for help in finding driver in fatal hit-and-run

"I don't understand how you just do that and keep on going," said Judy Dionne, McHugh's cousin. "It's heartless. It's heartless, they've had to have known they hit her."

Police are looking for a vehicle with front end damage, specifically on the passenger side of the car, including the passenger headlight area. Seekonk police are available at 508-336-8123.

“Karen was just a good, down-to-earth person,” he said. “You don’t see too many people like that these days. When you do see one, they stand out. And she stood out.”

Cadime also echoed what the police chief said, urging the person who struck McHugh to come forward and turn themselves in to police, “not only for Karen’s family, but for the Town of Seekonk as well.”

Mace said investigators will be looking at surveillance footage from area businesses as well as tips from the public in attempting to locate the vehicle involved in the crash.

The funeral for McHugh, an assistant town clerk in Seekonk, was held Saturday morning.
Police and family members are asking for the public's help in locating the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Friday night in Seekonk. Karen McHugh, an assistant town clerk in Seekonk, was struck and killed in front of her home on Arcade Avenue as she was walking from their garage to their house. Due to the snow on the sidewalk, McHugh stepped into the street and was hit by a car that then left the scene. She was found lying deceased in the street. Seekonk Police Chief Craig Mace said the car they are looking for is possibly dark gray and likely sustained front-end and passenger-side damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Seekonk police.
