3 injured in Holland Township wreck.
Three people were taken to the hospital after two vehicles collided on 120th Avenue in Holland Township on Wednesday afternoon. It happened just after 12:30 p.m. on the five-lane street south of Union Street, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Enriqueta Martinez, 62, of Holland, was driving south on 120th Avenue when a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Robert Mekkes of Wyoming pulled out of a private driveway onto the road with the intention of heading north, and the two vehicles collided, sheriff’s officials said. Martinez was unable to see Mekkes’ vehicle due to another vehicle in the southbound, right lane of 120th Avenue. Emergency crews had to rescue Mekkes from his vehicle, where he was trapped, according to the sheriff’s office. Mekkes was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment, and Martinez, as well as her passenger, 41-year-old Adelinia Perez of Holland, were taken to Zeeland Hospital for treatment, sheriff’s officials said.
